Each and everyone has their reasons or personal taste. Some purchase expensive phones simply due to the specifications they are looking for, then there are some who do it just to show off.

A phone of $150 is not costly. Most latest Samsung phones cost over a thousand dollars. What of iPhones! iphone16 pro max is over $1900 dollars! Some of these big phones have no exception benefit except that is from big companies!

Most likely for status symbol or arrogance. My millionaire friend his phone is very cheap. What's important for him is it functions properly. Those whose incomes are not capable to buy an expensive phone borrows money or apply for a loan but deep inside, they know they are poor.
