Why do smaller cities have few scrap shops?

I have noticed that there are very few scrap shops in smaller cities and towns, while there a very large number of shops purchasing newspapers, plastic bottles and other scrap material in metro cities. What could be the reason for this?

I don't think there are many scraps that those people in the small cities want to sell. It just could be the lifestyle of holding on to scrap over there.

That’s a great observation. In metro cities, there's higher consumption of goods, which leads to more waste and therefore a larger supply of scrap. Plus, recycling infrastructure is more developed in big cities, making it profitable. In smaller towns, the volume of scrap might not justify setting up dedicated shops, and logistics can be more challenging. Demand, awareness, and industrial buyers are also more concentrated in metros.

Small cities have few scrap shops have crucial differences with big cities, especially factors, population, income and different lifestyles, in big cities people do not like to keep used goods so they will sell them to junk dealers, or give them to others.

Activities in small cities are very minimal that is why only a few business exists over there.
