Why do you think the mouth/ear piece for basic phones seems to be delicate than those in smart phones?

In that case l have exchanged some mouth pieces of the basic phone like two times on a phone which is younger than the smart phone that l am using. I had never exchanged the ear/mouth pieces for the previous smart phone that lasted for five years or so . What could really be the problem.
