Some websites that I know would immediately ban you when they discover that you have links on the posts you make on the site. What is the rational for such drastic actions with links?

Does it affect the site negatively when people post links on such forum sites?

In building a community, you should be careful what is presented to them, most forums don't accept links because of scammers, and many people will share links that might have malware and virus to scam others, or some share scams to the community hence reducing trust

Actually, not all links are bad, but they are often misused by forum members to link shortener links, referrals, etc. Links will be allowed if you only refer to sources such as Twitter, Linkedin, etc. So there is no personal gain.
So it means those forum sites don't want us to put our referral links from other sites so that we wouldn't have any benefit to gain from it. But the forum site might also need us to bring referrals to their site. How do they expect us to get that?

I honestly do not know the reason behind this. I always wonder what the reason could be myself.
It’s because there’s some users that just join a forum to spam their links and not interact with the community at all.
There’s a difference between genuine users and spammers.
