A friend of mine just deducted the salary of a very important staff for lateness and the staff has stayed away from work three days now since they got their salaries to notice the deduction. He is a very important staff.
Deduction for being late to work is normal and lawful. It's part of the business policy. The business owner must maintain her standard. Let that worker realized.
This is a dicey situation when he does that how would other staff learn. Again, it would show partiality if other staff salary used to be deducted. For me I would let the person go sometimes it might just be a lesson that staff need to learn for life.
