Imagine you are a business owner and your business is recruiting. You receive an application from a person who is twice your age for the opening in your organization.

Given that you would be giving out orders as the business owner, would you feel comfortable employing the candidate who is twice your age? How would you manage relations with such staff?

It is a case to case. There is age qualification in my country as to hiring process is concerned. It's also based from what the company deals like banking, office employees, teaching, sales and more. For my milk tea business it requires young staff at ages 21-25 only.

Many businesses are hiring older people because they are hardworking and honest, require the money. Younger people are often arrogant and dishonest, so honest older employees are preferred.

That's true. There are some job roles that people prefer to hire the older heads. They are quite calmer than the young ones for sensitive roles.

That depends on the individual and the type of business. Cafe like Starbucks mainly hire young people But I think in most cases, age does not really matter. If s(he) is hardworking, respect the supervisor and is qualified to do the job, I see no reason not to hire them.

It depends on the business owner, personally I don't see anything wrong with this, the most important thing should be that the person is capable of working with you.

It would be difficult trying to have full control of a staff that is even your age mate, not to talk of one that is that older than you.
I don't think there is anything wrong with employing someone older than you. Age should not be a barrier especially when you have opportunity to employ a qualified employee.

There is nothing wrong having a staff that is older than you. The main challenge is if the staff would understand that leadership is not by age.
