A staff of an organization has told the boss that she is a chorister in her church. And that rehearsals hold every Thursday by 5 PM. The company closes by 6AM. The staff asks for permission to go home one hour early every Thursday to attend choir rehearsals. Would you grant that permission as a boss?

I don't see anything wrong with this, am also a religious person so i understand. Then again since it's only on Thursdays and it's just an hour early, it's fine. The staff just has to try round up his or her work before 5pm

How do you think other staff would feel when that religious staff is given such concessions? Is it not better they deduct an hour pay from her monthly salary for those Thursdays?

That would make sense but if the staff has actually completed the work for the day, does it still make sense to deduct from the salary?
The best is not to simply hire the staff from the very beginning if you can't cope with that.

That's true. That should be discussed at the point of interview. I would let my staff go for religious activities once a week if it doesn't affect my business.

I don't think this is the point to be discussed while taking interview.

If the staff doesn't mention this during interview, he or she should not even bring it up again. There would be no adjustments if I am the business owner.
