Some things happen in life and we have absolutely no control over them. I have seen a situation where a staff of an organisation suddenly develops a health condition that makes him or her unable to carry his job role to your business organisation any longer.

As an ethical business person, would you dismiss the staff from your organisation and remove him from payroll? Or would you replace him or her while he or she is still in payroll?

It depends on the condition of the the sickness. If the sickness could affect productivity, i have to pay the worker off. If the health condition will allow the worker to function properly without affecting productivity, i will allow the worker to continue.

Some companies though, don't pay such workers off, but put them permanently on payroll, maybe, at a reduced pay, especially if the health condition is something that the staff doesn't have control over it's occurrence.

The truth of the matter is that every business is there to make profit, if an employee being sick stops or limits how you make profit, the best choice would be to let them go and if possible support them with what you can.
