Would you take a loan to use for marriage ceremony?

So many people in my country believe that weddings should be made to be very big and a societal talking point. Many go to the extent of getting a loan to finance their weddings/ marriage ceremonies. Do you think taking a loan to organise a marriage ceremony is right? Can you do that?
 
I have recently seen advertisements encouraging young people to take out a loan to travel, to have a luxury wedding. This is definitely not the right thing to do. If you cannot afford to have a luxurious wedding ceremony, so be it.

People tend to downplay the importance of finances in marriage. They think that love is enough. When the wright if that loan starts bearing down on the business, they would realize that it has a huge potential to scatter the marriage.

In my country, many parents of the prospective bride demand that the prospective groom can hold a big wedding party, if necessary in a luxury building or a star hotel, however, if the groom is not financially capable, they will take out a loan, but in my opinion it would be better if the prospective groom backs out or cancels the wedding rather than being in debt.

Personally I feel marriage should be just between two person. This grand spending just creates problems in future.
 
It is not a good idea to take out a loan for a wedding ceremony. It is better to save for your wedding than to take out a loan to avoid having problems later on. If I will get married, I prefer a simple wedding to a lavish one. It is way better to save the money I would use for the wedding ceremony for investments or savings.
 
Recently I have attended few very lavish big fat weddings. It's slowly becoming a status symbol and people are going overboard with it. There is a whole lot of business proliferating on this.. wedding planner, event managers etc. There is a marketing gimmick promoting it too. Taking loans for an extravagant marriage is insane. You know your finances well and you should decide what will work for you and not drown you in debt .
 
I won't even take a loan for a business that I know might generate profit for me, not to mention taking one for marriage. There is life after marriage. After taking the loan, when it comes to paying back, all the people you invited to the wedding won't contribute for you to pay back.
