How does a business build personal relationships with every customer when it has hundreds of customers?

They always say that having a personalised relationship with the customers of a business helps the business to grow with sustained patronage.

But for a business that is fortunate enough to have hundreds of customers, how does the business build relationships with every customer?
 
It has full dedicated staff to do this. These days they use AI to streamline the customer service and send personalized messages
I am just wondering how many staff that I might need to have to be able to cater to that number of customers personally. Hundreds of customers is really much.

Automation is the answer. They use multiple AI tools to create personalized messages. Most of the communication is done through bots but they have tailored it in a way that it feels real.
