Botswana authorities say at least nine people were confirmed dead Monday, as rare flooding hit the semi-arid country. More than 5,000 people have been affected by the floods as record rainfall fell over the last week.

The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) said at least 600,000 schoolchildren were experiencing disruptions due to the floods. Schools have been closed since last week, but Mohwasa said most are expected to reopen on Tuesday.

Fortunately, the schoolchildren were able to go back to their classes yesterday, February 25. Their water and current supplies were also restored. The hospitals are also operational. The affected residents are thankful to the Botswana Red Cross Society for supplying them with relief items and food to evacuation centers. Botswana, like most southern African countries, has been recovering from the devastating El Nino-induced drought.

Flooding is becoming a more concern now. Almost every country is experiencing flooding that leaves many death and thousands displaced. The major cause of all these is human actions and nature fights back.
Flooding is always experienced in my country whenever storm attacks. There are 28 storms that visit Philippines every year, but 10 of them mostly visit every December. We experienced one time flooding Christmas.

People needs to always be proactive when it comes to natural disasters. You need to keep away from prone areas
That's supposed to be done but there are hard headed people despite warned to leave their homes, they never cared of following and complying those who live near rivers are candidates to be swept away by floods.
