Yes it can just be a close friend or family member doing that.For me such a family member needs to be kept at arms length

It have happened to my friend! One of his close friend use his account details and borrow money from online loan company. And unfortunately, the criminal could not pay the debt until the loan company have to call my friend! It is very embrassing.

I noted that some financial institutions here do not require a lot of documents for loans. They just need the ID card and the phone number of the borrower, And it can be done online. Well, it has happened in my place. When you know the manager and if both of you want to scam someone you can create a fake loan for someone and then embezzle the money.
