How can auto update if apps be stopped on a smartphone?

There are apps that updates themselves automatically. And they don't even give you the chance to decide if you want the update or not. Apps that behave like that are always stock apps. How can I completely stop apps from updating automatically on my smartphone?
 
You just need to go to your google play store and check the settings. You will see an option for switching of the auto update.
