Substance abuse often results in neglect, verbal abuse, and even physical violence toward children. Parents who experienced abuse or neglect as children may have developed adaptive coping mechanisms and unhealthy parenting styles. They may unconsciously replicate the harmful patterns they experienced in their childhoods.

Further, extreme financial stress, job loss, or other significant life stressors can lead to increased irritability and conflict within families. Parents under immense pressure may struggle to manage their emotions effectively, resorting to hostility toward their children.

Moreover, marital conflict or relationship instability can spill over onto the parent-child dynamic. Children often become collateral damage in parental disputes, experiencing heightened hostility as a result.

We always hear and read posts here about parents killing their kids. No matter how financially problematic the parents are, they must not punish their kids. My brother-in-law was hostile to his family, so I reported him to the police, and he was jailed for three days. He was never a hostile husband and father again.

That was a good move, if you had not reported him, who knows how far he would have gone on how he treated them.

My brother in law passed away 5 years ago and his family finally breathed the complete freedom. Before I reported him to the police, he was about to stab my elder sister and that angered my family, so I went to the police station.

My young nieces and nephews cried of fear and shame. This time, no one hurts them. We're thankful they were not mentally sick because of their traumatic experience. When their father got wild the kids ran away to their neigbors for safety. They were ages 6 and 8 at that time.
