Perplexity AI offers $34.5-B to acquire Chrome browser

From Washington , DC report, perplexity AI has made a USD34.5 billion offer to acquire the Chrome browser owned by Google, a subsidiary of Alphabet. The bid is considered modest but exceeds the market value of the start-up, estimated at USD14 billion.

The report also stated that perplexity aims to use the potential acquisition to gain an advantage in the artificial intelligence search race by leveraging Chrome’s user base, which exceeds 3 billion people.

In addition, the move comes as Google faces regulatory pressures and plans to appeal a US court ruling last year that found it had unlawfully monopolized internet search.

According to Reuters, citing a person familiar with the matter, several funds have offered to fully finance the deal.

It's crucial if Artificial Intelligence takes over Google Chrome. There will be many changes and adjustments. The policies online might be affected. It will be an insult AI to be the browser. I might shift to Firefox or Yahoo.

Having been using chrome for years now, if they do acquire it and make changes I don't like, i would have to switch. Anyways let's see how things unfold.

Yeah, let's wait and see for the decision of Google and the heirs of its business. The billion-dollar deal might disappear if not managed well, whereas, having Chrome for life is very impactful @Bigshow .
