Magnitude 7.6 earthquake rocks Davao Oriental, Ph nearby provinces on Oct. 10

A 7.6-magnitude earthquake struck Davao Oriental at 9:43 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 10, said the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

Phivolcs said the quake’s epicenter was located 62 kilometers southeast of Manay, Davao Oriental, at a depth of 10 kilometers.

Intensities are not yet available in the initial bulletin.

Phivolcs said the earthquake was tectonic in origin, indicating that it was caused by the movement of an active fault near the area.

The agency warned of possible damage and aftershocks from this event.

I was doing activities online when the ground shook. I was so terrified. The quake lasted almost 3 minutes. It was so strong and my voice seemed cannot come out. There is an alarm warning for a possible tsunami and aftershock.

Indeed, it is so scary, it is a nationwide earthquake, and the epicenter is in Davao City. This earthquake originates from Malaysia.
