According to the report, President Donald Trump began his first trip to the Asia Pacific since his re-election in 2024 by attending the ASEAN summit in Malaysia. ASEAN was founded in 1967, and member nations represent a population of more than 680 million. Mike Pache is speaking with National Security Analyst Hal Kempfer as Air Force One touches down in Malaysia.

The report also said that earlier on Saturday, they heard President Trump saying that he is "open" to meeting with North Korea’s Kim Jong Un at the demilitarized zone (DMZ) while he is in South Korea. "I'd be open to it, 100%. I got along very well with him, Kim Jong Un," Trump said aboard Air Force One.

ASEAN leaders are focused on three key priorities. They are working together to handle major trade pressures such as new US tariffs. They are also trying to resolve regional security challenges, including the Myanmar crisis and South China Sea disputes. At the same time, they want to boost economic growth by strengthening the digital economy and connectivity among member nations. Lucky are those who can shake hands with President Trump.

ASEAN is making a strong calculation, bro. Trade pressure is hot, security is also stressful. Myanmar and the South China Sea are difficult, but they are pushing the digital economy. It is also a hope for growth. A handshake with Trump is rare, but you don't have to have a strong connection to make an impact.
