Akon is taking a firm stand in his ongoing divorce from his estranged wife, Tomeka, making it clear in newly filed court documents that he does not intend to pay her any spousal support.

According to the filings, the music star checked the option to terminate spousal support for Tomeka, his wife of twenty nine years. This move comes after Tomeka herself had requested support in her initial divorce petition filed in September. In a twist, she also asked the court not to award any support to Akon, suggesting that both parties are trying to protect their own finances.

In his response submitted on Friday at the Los Angeles Superior Court, Akon also asked for joint physical custody of their seventeen year old child. Tomeka, however, is requesting joint legal custody and full physical custody for herself.

From my perspective, this situation clearly reflects how, in many cases, long-term relationships can become even more complicated when money is involved. It seems to me that Akon is acting from a very firm position, possibly seeking to protect his own financial interests, which is understandable to a certain extent, but it can also appear selfish. Akon's request to end child support and his desire for joint physical custody seem to indicate that he wants to maintain control and reduce financial risks. On the other hand, Tomeka's stance, also requesting that she not receive support and seeking custody, shows that she is also defending her rights and protecting her son. Ultimately, these legal disputes often reflect not only emotional differences but also strategies to ensure a stable future, even if that sometimes means further straining the relationship.

All I can say to Akon is good luck; unless she did something untoward and/or illegal, he's not getting out of that without coughing up something in turn.

I really don't understand the logic though, you are tired of being married to someone, but you aren't tired of getting financial support? Anyways good luck to both of them.
