After the incidents like the “I LOVE YOU, virus revealed gaps in legal protections, many countries introduced specific computer crime laws to combat hacking, virus creation, and data theft. International treaties foster cooperation across borders, while data protection regulations like the GDPR protect user privacy. Stronger penalties and enforcement agencies have been established, and cybersecurity standards are now often mandatory for businesses and governments.

Education and awareness campaigns also play a key role in preventing cyberattacks. Together, these measures help create a safer digital environment as technology advances.

If someone is reading this discussion from the perspective of a small business in the UK, the part about mandatory standards and fines is not just theory. We needed someone who could translate all the stuff about laws, GDPR and Cyber Essentials into concrete steps: what we have to do today, what needs to be documented, what has to be monitored.

In our case, we worked with Iron Dome IT for IT support and security, precisely so we wouldn’t end up losing contracts or getting fined because we “didn’t know”. They helped us put a basic structure over all that rule chaos so it wouldn’t turn into a full-time job just to keep up with security requirements.

True that, web safety is a must, stay sharp and trust your gut instinct.
Yes, and I also encountered fishy things on the web, wanting to scam me; however, I researched and found it to be 100% scam site.

Good job on spotting that scam! Stay vigilant online, scammers are getting craftier by the day.

Yes, that site was advertized here. It was about betting a lottery. There were images displayed as winners of lottery in the USA. The link was embedded, and when I clicked it, I learned that one must pay $596 to be able to receive the spell. That was fishy so I reported that poster on DBucks as a scammer. The post was removed.
