I think one major difference is behavioral control. For an employee, the company or organization decides how the work is done, and the methods used to achieve the results, a freelancer on the other hand have more freedom.

Difference is in the control of the work and the equipment you use. Employee is assigned time and given an office. freelancer is self-employed and paid only for specific tasks without following formal employment laws.

I understand the differences in employment rates. I prefer the freedom of calling in for a quick payment rather than being stuck in the office all day waiting for the last paycheck of the month.
