Many desire to become a webmaster, but it takes years for anyone to become a webmaster. There are steps to follow :
1. Earn a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science. This is an in-demand course that leads one to become an expert on the web. If it is too late for you, let your kids choose this course to lead them to the path for the course of their time. In this course, one will learn to design websites, build websites, maintain websites, troubleshoot issues, and problem-solve to achieve the website goals.
2. Get Training to understand the basic and specific software and programming skills to keep the website running once already created the website. It is required in the training to complete some HTML or software courses in a semester. Webmasters of more complicated websites must be fluent in several programming languages. There are programming courses one can find like HTML 5, CSS, JavaScript, and XHTML.
3. Getting experience in the field means trying to work in the field by working as a developer or as a designer. Constant practice makes one perfect. The computer will guide one if interested in learning. There is also work freelance to get experience in the field, or enter a net cafe and learn something from the web to enhance your experience.
4. Become Certified, this gives you the employment chance and become a website developer and designer. Certification is necessary to be hired, to gain an advantage, and to practice what was learned during training and short courses learning.
5. And finally, find a job using your certificate as proof in big corporations, nonprofits, and small businesses, start your own business, and work as a freelancer until such a time you will become an expert and ready to become a webmaster. Hurray!

I think that becoming a webmaster is not that easy. However, if you are dedicated enough, then you can also become a webmaster. You have to pursue courses and there are many people who do pursue courses because they want to become a part of this field. You have to learn graphic designing as well.

I like to become a webmaster, but there are many reasons why I cannot anymore pursue my dream, I feel contented with what I have this time, my work, and my milk tea business. Being a webmaster can also give anyone better earnings on the web.

It depends on what you would like to do with the Webmaster knowledge, if you would like to apply it in an official setup then yes you are going to take loads of hours in schools to earn that degree and master's if there is one. But if you are in the informal sector then even YouTube and the use of AI tools can still; place you at the advantage and be a wonderful creative just like what others have said.

from the way things are going and it is inevitable for me not to have some basic skills in software engineering. It is very expensive to hire one when you have a vision of something that you are not sure when it will blow up. Meaning you are financing the project out of your pocket.
