I am not earning though Reels yet, however, I have identified Reels as one of the best ways to make money by creating short videos. If you have video making skills, you can leverage reels on Facebook and Instagra, to generate income, with minimal requirements to fulfil. You need traffic on your reels and you can get traffic if your Reels are good. If you manage to get a huge following you will secure sponsorships or promote affiliate products.

I'm doing reels on Facebook but my followers or the viewers aren't big only 2000. I was told by Meta to keep creating reels to improve my traffic but I lacked interest.

You're so right those whose videos are well - crafted obtained many followers. In fact, Facebook for example programmed the donation option by giving a star with money equivalent via credit card or PayPal. That's not good for me.

There is money on Reels. When I still have my Facebook active, my friends who are in the US are uploading short videos. Their videos are not even well edited, and they said that they are earning from the Reels.

I only use Reels for memories. LOL. I know you need a huge following for you to earn. I am not sure, though.
