There is a guy I rent music equipment from when I have a job to play somewhere. I had a gig and money was sent from the client. I transferred same to this guy that I rent equipment from, after speaking with him and he assured me that equipment were available.
All of a sudden, he stopped taking my calls. And the gig was the following day. I had to mop up funds from external sources to get equipment somewhere else and deliver that gig and the guy I transferred money to didn't pick my calls for days. After a week, he picked my call and didn't offer any explanation. I went to pick equipment from him for the payment I sent him earlier for another gig.
I kept the equipment for extra 7 days without returning it. I wasn't using it. I just needed to get back at him. He lost money that he would have gotten from renting out the equipment which were with me. I returned it after 7 days and I didn't give him a dime. And that business relationship of 3 years died.
Was I wrong to take my pound of flesh and kill that business relationship?
