A farmer in Las Navas town, Northern Samar province, died on Tuesday, May 14, after being attacked by his own carabao. Alvin Pagaban, 42, was attacked by his carabao while tending to it in a creek in Barangay Andres, 7.5 km away from the town proper. The police authorities suspected that the carabao was stressed because he tended the farm for three days under the raging heat which prompted him to change his behavior.

The police report said that the carabao suddenly attacked the victim vigorously, causing him to sustain multiple wounds. The victim was rushed to the town's hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

According to the police report, the farmer used his carabao to transport his palay produce in addition to its work in the rice fields. The carabao remains in possession of the victim’s family.

That's so sad, though it's very possible for it to have change it's behavior due to heat. Heat tends to pay tricks with our minds most times.

I pity that young farmer. He should have evaluated the feelings of the animal as being tired and must need rest. His behaviour was changed. The carabao got angry to his care taker. 😔

What's this. Being killed by whst you were tended for. This would be regrettable to the victim family
The victim sustained multiple injuries. He should have climbed a tree but he's on panic and never thought even to stone the carabao. The animal was so angry.

I totally agree. The carabao's behavior may have changed due to the extreme heat. Animals have emotions, too. Just like humans, when they are exhausted and enduring extreme weather conditions, they can become restless and their behaviors can change.

This is a very sad one. sometimes when we are in danger we hardly think straight.

That's true he didn't think of the right act to do. He's on panic and perhaps lost control. He's so pitiful. May he rest in God's paradise 🙏

Yes,may he rest in power. I'm sure he still fight the little he could though he was overpowered and killed

😔I'm so sure of that he was overpowered by the strength of the animal. He was on panic and lost control.

That's unfortunate! Probably the animal may be stressed or feel overused. Though, if the owner is sensitive enough, he suppose to notice some abnormal behavior in the animal before the tragedy.
You're so right, that animal was stressed. The heat index that time was sweltering that triggered the change of attitude of the carabao. The owner must have let the animal rest for some hours. It's so horrible.

it can be traumatic for the victim family. What he was caring for as become the death of the person . Just too bad
I pity that young farmer. He should have let the carabao rest for one hour, The mood of the animal was horrific because of the heat index that reached 45 degrees Celcius.

Who knows maybe the fault was from him. but all the same it has ended badly for him and that's the bad part of everything

It seems the fault was on the farmer for not feeling the stress of the animal. But it had done already, let us pray for the eternal repose of his soul.

That's right, animals also have emotions. They will also become moody especially the carabao that plows the field whole day under the raging heat of the sun. I also pity the carabao. I hope he wasn't butchered.

Yeah I'm sure he might have angered it. But it is just a pity that he died that way

He was not able to run or climb a tree. That was tragic and sorrowful. There might be no people nearby to help him.
