According to the report, a South African national was arrested for attempting to smuggle illegal drugs worth P35.8 million into the country, at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Pasay City, the Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group (PDEG) said on Wednesday, August 14. The report from the PDEG chief Brig. Gen. Eleazar Matta said the 35-year-old female suspect, who was not identified, was nabbed in an operation by members of the NAIA Interagency Drug Interdiction Task Group at the international arrival area of the airport’s Terminal 3 at about 7:30 p.m. The suspect yielded one transparent plastic sachet that contained more than 5.2 kg. of suspected shabu. The seized illegal drugs were brought to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency for documentation and disposition procedures.
The suspect is now detained awaiting trial and for a repatriation to her country of origin. This is not the first time a drug trafficker from South Africa caught trafficking an illegal drug.
