Some time ago, an acquaintance of mine claimed her father, who is a wedding-events photographer, is losing this and that job cause of the smartphones' cameras. A lot of smartphones, especially the (very expensive) Samsung Galaxy (S-line) and the (even more expensive) i-phones count on great cameras, worthy of a photographer's best tools. So many people could think it's a waste of money to call a photographer in a celebration, as one's smartphone could do the same for free. Any similar experience in your countries?

While with the introduction of cameras on smartphones, it has reduced the rate at which people call in professional photographers, i think it still has a little long way go go before it completely reduces this.

The shots taken by someone that is a professional photographer on a good phone camera can't be compared to one that is snapped by just anyone. It is always different.
This is true, of course. But nowadays, average people in the western countries don't bother with the quality of the service in order to spare money (particularly, a lot of western people hate to pay professionals' fees in any way, as they simply consider it a waste of money). So they prefer the low quality photography service done for free by friends John, Jerry and Jack Does that use the camera of their Motorola instead of paying high fees to a professional photographer who grants a great service...

Surely, it depends on each one's country. The ones where people still don't get bothered if they need to pay a professional won't rely on low quality service. Otherwise, we know how AIs are stealing to humans this and that task...

Yes, that's true. Also, the internet is taking away lots of the jobs. Yesterday, I was filling out an exam form for my daughter where they asked to upload her photograph. I remember in our time we used to paste the hard copy of the photograph and send the form through the postal service.

The same happened to me when I needed the renewal of my driving licence (the last 2 renewals). The request was 3 small photos, but when I arrived at the office, they didn't want the physical photos made by a professional any more. The bureau had acquired an AI to photograph and it was the only acceptable tool to take the required photo.

Thats not good. With the advance technology people lose more jobs in future too. It will be tough for the people to survive.
In addition to photographers, AIs are stealing intellectual jobs (the idea behind such AIs is to substitute all intellectual workers around the world). I also have lost 2 students, thanks to a languages teaching AI...I foresee a future full of unemployed people.

Those who can afford to hire a photographer for a special occasion, such as a wedding, are willing to pay for their services.
Crazy thing: averagely, in my former country, it's just people who can afford professional services that hate to pay professionals. For ex., a friend of mine from Rome knows people that are eager to spend a fortune into futile things like a luxury car, but then, when they need a tailor's service, they want their clothes repaired for free, as they refuse to spend 8 euros:ROFLMAO:. So imagine how eager they are to pay a photographer, as they have a smartphone available to take photos:ROFLMAO:.
