24-year-old man, sentenced to 14 years imprisonment for s@xually assaulting a six-year-old girl.

An Ekiti State High Court on Tuesday July 23, sentenced Sunday Asere, a 24-year-old man, to 14 years imprisonment for s@xually assaulting a six-year-old girl.

Asere was arraigned on March 22, 2022, on one count charge of rape.The charge read, “That the defendant sometime in January 2020 at Moferere in Ado Ekiti, did r@pe a six-year-old girl. The offence is contrary to Section 31(2) of the Child Rights Law, Cap. C7, Laws of Ekiti State of Nigeria, 2012."

The six-year-old girl, said that the defendant, who was her mother’s neighbour, was fond of fondling her private part whenever her mother was not around.

The judge after finding the defendant guilty through the evidence terndered at the court jailed him for 14 years

What kind of animal was he? A six-year-old is a baby and if it is his baby being sexually harassed, what will he do? He might kill the abuser and that must be what he must experience to be killed instantly.

Ekiti state seems to be state where all types of atrocities do happen.The government of Ekiti state need to step up and try to create awareness and educate the populace the danger of criminality. It is very disheartening to hear about rape of a minor by an adult.

This is just inhumane, personally i feel fourteen years is not even enough punishment for this kind of man.
