6 dead, 31 missing in Philippines' deadly landfill collapse; relatives mourn loss

According to the report, Philippine authorities said 110 workers were on site when a landfill collapsed in Cebu, damaging several structures and burying multiple personnel. The Bureau of Fire Protection on Sunday confirmed six deaths, with 31 people still unaccounted for.

On survivor Jaylord Antigua, a landfill worker, recounted his survival after the garbage avalanche at the Binaliw landfill in Cebu nearly buried him alive during its collapse on Thursday.

In addition, Antigua's two cousins remain trapped under the garbage, and he is anxiously awaiting updates. He said he cannot believe that garbage has killed them.

That is a private landfill; it is the responsibility of the private owner to protect their workers. Hoping they are insured and that those trapped will be alive.
