Optimism is an L2 layer blockchain built on the Ethereum blockchain by implementing optimistic rollups technology, allowing Ethereum transactions to be processed more quickly and with lower costs. Optimistic Rollup's goal is to increase scaling or process a larger number of transactions. The way Optimistic rollups work is by combining various transactions which are then combined and processed on the L2 Optimism blockchain, then the results will be sent to the Ethereum blockchain as a new block for validation.

Optimism also issues a native token OP (Optimism) which is used as payment for transactions as well as a governance token. Optimism token (OP) price is $1.73 Max Supply 4.2 billion. ATH of $3.30 reached in Feb 2023.
