Accumulated financial breakthrough or instant hit? Which would you prefer

There are many paths to financial freedom. Some people have it accumulated organically to the point that it becomes big while others prefer just have one hit that changes their entire financial fortunes.

Which would you prefer if you had the choice? Steady financial growth or instant hit?

I know that I would really enjoy instant hit but most instant hit don't always impart a sense of responsibility to the beneficiary.
