An 18-year-old was killed at Walmart after allegedly kicking a shopping cart

According to the report, an 18-year-old was killed after he allegedly kicked another person’s shopping cart. Delano Middleton, 48, was arrested and charged with murder in the fatal stabbing of the 18-year-old, identified as J.T. Schroeder, during an altercation on October 23, said the police. Police said Schroeder died from his injuries on Monday, Oct. 27.

The report also said that the confrontation began when a man was leaving the store with a shopping cart, and Schroeder kicked it as he passed by. Schroeder’s father told WJCL that his son was never, ever confrontational unless he was confronted first, and that the police version of events does not tell the full story.

Middleton was taken to the Chatham County Detention Center. WJCL reported that he has a criminal history, including prior arrests on aggravated assault, battery, and weapons charges in 2021 and 2023.

Personally, I think we often underestimate how small conflicts can escalate disproportionately, and in this case, the violence resulted in the loss of a young life. The victim was so unlucky, he assaulted the man who has a criminal record. The teen victim should have not provoked or assaulted the criminal by kicking his cart. He angered that criminal minded person. That would be a lesson for everyone not to assault someone. Self - control is one important key to avoid a mishap.
