According to the report, in an effort to attract US customers, Anduril Industries recently showcased the capabilities of its Dive Extra-Large Autonomous Undersea Vehicle (XL-AUV) off the coast of California.

The report stated that he autonomous submarine reportedly completed a 100-hour single voyage, the longest for a vehicle of this class.

The report added that while the company views it as a significant milestone, it emphasized that this achievement is just a precursor to an upcoming demonstration, where the Dive-XL will attempt to complete a 1,000-nautical-mile (1,150 miles/1,852 kilometer) mission in a single trip.

Shane Arnott, Anduril’s senior vice president for programs and engineering, said that in the coming months or weeks, that their mission will be done. He also said that the Dive-XL is already being integrated into operations for the Royal Australian Navy, but Anduril is keen to introduce it to the US market as a

I addition to the report, Dive-XI is a modular platform that can be equipped with various payloads for a wide range of missions, from subsea intelligence gathering to long-range surveillance and commercial seabed mapping. It can remain submerged for weeks without intervention, ensuring it can operate undetected at extended ranges.

The demonstration of Anduril Industries’ Dive Extra-Large Autonomous Undersea Vehicle (XL-AUV) off California is a strong statement about how undersea autonomy is advancing. Completing a 100-hour single voyage sets a new benchmark for vehicles of this class, but what’s even more ambitious is the upcoming 1,000-nautical-mile mission. If successful, it would prove the Dive-XL’s ability to operate at extreme ranges without human intervention, a capability that could redefine naval logistics and intelligence gathering.
What makes the Dive-XL particularly versatile is its modular design, allowing it to carry different payloads for missions ranging from subsea surveillance to commercial seabed mapping. Its endurance—remaining submerged for weeks—means it can function undetected, a critical advantage in contested maritime environments. With integration already underway in the Royal Australian Navy, Anduril’s push to attract US customers highlights the growing demand for scalable, autonomous platforms that can adapt instantly to diverse operational needs. This is autonomy built for persistence and reach.
