Apple building it's cheapest MacBook ever to be sold at $599 to $699.

Apple Inc has announced that it is already testing the cheapest MacBook that it has ever introduced to the market. The MacBook codenamed J700 would be sold from around $599 to $699.

Apple wants to compete with Windows PC within that price range.

From my perspective, Apple's decision to launch a MacBook in that price range is quite interesting and could mark a significant shift in their strategy. Historically, Apple products have been considered premium and quite expensive, so this move could attract a wider audience that previously couldn't afford their devices. Would they be able to compete on non premium PCs? I think that Microsoft has that on lock down as they Apple have premium PC.

At the price of $699, the cheapest MacBook would be the same price with the latest iPhone that is released. It is actually not cheap at all.

Lol to them this is cheap but in developing countries like mine, this is no where near cheap at all.

Well, Apple is planning to release its lowest-priced MacBook yet. It's called the J700 and will be priced around $600. They say they want to compete with the more affordable Windows PCs. This is like a lion coming down the mountain to play with the kids.

If this thing comes out for real, then school kids and those looking for a laptop for small tasks will be very happy. If Apple brings their quality to a reasonable price, it will be like getting the sun without sweating. Let's wait and see if they will put a burden on it or are they just words to confuse people.

I am waiting to see how Apple would be able to build a mid range device for the first time. Can they compete?

Apple are used to selling high-end gadgets. Don't see them trying to offer lower priced items.
