Imagine that you own a bakery, and you have like three staff working under you.

Would you allow your staff to have access to one free bread a day or you would insist that they must buy bread if they want to eat bread?

Is it bad practice for bakery staff to be given one bread a day out of the production they do?

Giving your staff a free loaf of bread every day is not bad at all. It's like a samurai being given dojo food so he has the strength to train. That bread is like a sakura petal, giving them motivation and making them feel valued. If you make them buy it every day, it's like a bullet train without fuel that can stop quickly. If you plan it well, that small gesture becomes a ninja move that builds loyalty and morale for your team.

It's not a bad idea to do this, but the end of the day it mainly depends on the bakery if they can handle the cost of doing such on a daily basis.

For me the most recent to collapse bakery in my vicinity had granted every staff a free bread daily. The staffs provided some tea on their own.
Do you think that the free bread the bakery gave to the staff was one of the factors that made the business to crash?

It can be because we might just be looking at one day and think it's no big deal but multiple thdt by 30 days a month that's big money leaving the business monthly
