With strict capital controls and a soaring parallel dollar, Argentinians have found a creative way to protect their savings: a Bitcoin-based carry trade. By purchasing BTC with pesos at the official rate and then converting it to stablecoins abroad, they’re earning up to 50% yearly in USD.
This method bypasses traditional banks and leverages crypto platforms like Binance or DeFi tools. It’s not just investing it’s a practical way to gain dollar exposure and stay ahead of inflation.
Crypto is more than hype here it's a lifeline

This is one of the purposes that bitcoin was supposed to help with, if I remember Satoshi's bitcoin white paper correctly - as a currency facilitator, allowing people to buy/sell w/out having to go through banks and other traditional financial institutions.

According to the news I've read, almost all citizens in Argentina always monitor the movement of the Argentine Peso (ARS) exchange rate against the USD, which is one of the main factors why Argentines prefer to hold Stablecoins rather than local currency. During the crisis, many Argentines have the option of trading Bitcoin futures to make a quick profit.

Hopefully one of the things Javier Milei can do is restore Argentines' confidence in their own currency, not because I don't trust their use of the dollar but because it would bring a lot of confidence to their country to be able to have the choice of currencies to use.
