As a professional musician, would you charge your place of worship to play/ perform for them?

Some religious places of worship use music for their gatherings. And being inclined to a particular religion, being a professional musician places a burden for you to play for your religious place of worship.

Should a pro musician charge money to play for his religious place of worship or it should be a free service?

I think that is a personal decision for you to make by yourself. If you feel that you are giving too much of your professional services, you can go ahead to charge them.

Personally I won't charge them, if on their own they decide to give me something, then that's a different case.

I would not charge my church for any services rendered to them. It is supposed to be my contribution to them.

I sing in the choir when I have the chance to. I used to do soloing and lead singing back then and I never had to charge my church. They used to give some appreciation sometimes.

It depends on individual perceptions. For me, i will consider a lot of factors like if the church are financial able to pay for the service without much ado. If the religious body is not financial capable, i will consider to do it free of charge. In the other way round, if they are financial capable, i will collect my pay.

If what you offer to the church in terms of professional service goes deep to require your skills, they should pay for it.

This is a dicey one but I would charge a little if I have to and if it would be necessary for me to do so but if not I would not
