--The Adventist University of the Philippines (AUP) has confirmed the death of a nursing student after an apparent cardiac arrest, according to an official statement posted on the university’s Facebook page. Alfiona Rose Pura Labata was found unconscious early in the morning on February 19, 2026. Emergency responders immediately provided medical assistance, but she was later pronounced dead.

University officials said they are working closely with her family to coordinate the return of her remains to her hometown. The institution expressed deep sorrow over her passing and extended condolences to her family, friends, classmates, and the university community.

In its statement, AUP called on the campus community to keep Labata’s family in prayer and to find comfort in faith during this time of grief.

I have not watched the TV news. I seldom watch news. I have not also seen it on news. That was indeed tragic. That UP student might have suffered her illness and just ignored it. May she rest in eternal peace.
