The 1000 graduating students at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth are so lucky to have been given $ 1000 each by a billionaire philanthropist, Rob Hale who surprised the graduating class by pointing to a nearby truck holding envelopes stuffed with cash before security guards lugged cash-filled duffel bags onto the stage.

The report said that Hale, the founder and chief executive of Granite Telecommunications, has an estimated net worth of $5.4 billion, and he owns a minority stake in the Boston Celtics. He and his wife said the greatest joy in their lives had come from the act of giving.

He said that in this trying time, their community needs the new graduates and their generosity more than ever. He encouraged the graduates to listen to his speech to encourage them to build better lives.
