When traveling abroad, whether to the Americas, Europe, or anywhere else, we naturally need to carry money, whether it's cash or a credit card. Some people believe that carrying cash is more practical and simple, allowing us to shop anywhere, whether in traditional markets or in villages. However, carrying large sums of money carries a high risk, especially if it's pickpocketed or stolen. On the other hand, some say a credit card is safer. If it's lost, we can simply call the bank and have it blocked. However, the worry remains: if the card is declined due to a system error or other issues, it can certainly be a hassle in a foreign country.

When I travel, I usually pay by credit card. But I do bring some cash which is needed if I want to eat street food or buy from small local stores.
Some credit cards offer travel-related insurance and other protections in case of an emergency. Having access to cash while you travel can help if credit cards aren't an option.
