China has told its citizens to avoid traveling to Japan after Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's latest statement on Taiwan. Takaichi told parliament on November 7 that Japan could consider military action if Taiwan is attacked. This has ignited a diplomatic row between the two countries.

Following the statement, China summoned the Japanese ambassador in Beijing to express its concerns. Japan responded by summoning the Chinese ambassador in Tokyo after a social media post from the Consul General in Osaka that they deemed inappropriate. The post has since been deleted but tensions remain high. As the saying goes, if you start small and let it fester, it will get bigger.

Personally, I believe this situation reflects how diplomatic tensions can escalate rapidly when political statements are taken seriously. China's warning to its citizens to avoid travel to Japan shows that they are taking the Japanese government's words about the potential use of force in Taiwan very seriously. It is worrying that a simple comment could generate such a strong reaction and trigger a diplomatic crisis. Japan's response of recalling the Chinese ambassador also indicates that both countries are engaged in a kind of power game and tense communication. History has taught us that allowing small disputes to fester, as the saying goes, can lead to major conflicts. I hope both nations can handle the situation calmly and seek diplomatic solutions before the tension becomes unbearable.
