China has told its citizens to avoid traveling to Japan after Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's latest statement on Taiwan. Takaichi told parliament on November 7 that Japan could consider military action if Taiwan is attacked. This has ignited a diplomatic row between the two countries.
Following the statement, China summoned the Japanese ambassador in Beijing to express its concerns. Japan responded by summoning the Chinese ambassador in Tokyo after a social media post from the Consul General in Osaka that they deemed inappropriate. The post has since been deleted but tensions remain high. As the saying goes, if you start small and let it fester, it will get bigger.
