According to the report, China announced that it was conducting joint military exercises with Russia along its southern coast. Chinese defence ministry said that the two countries began the drills, named Joint Sea-2024, in early July and will continue until mid-July.
The report added that The ministry stated that these exercises, taking place in the waters and airspace around Zhanjiang City, aim to showcase the combined resolve and capabilities of both nations in addressing maritime security challenges.
In addition, the drills follow the US-led NATO summit in Washington and Tokyo's warning over the growing threat from Beijing's close ties with Moscow. Beijing dismissed these warnings as "irresponsible and provocative".
