I’ve always been a fan of maintaining a “swipe file”. This is an old creative technique, where they used to cut out headlines or copy from successful ads. You can bring this technique up to date by using Evernote or some other free software to collect these. I’m generally looking for content marketing campaigns that have worked, so I can understand the mechanism behind them, and be able to apply to other clients. It’s far more effective to build on the work and ideas of others, rather than try to come up with original concepts all the time. And in fairness, creative ideas are rarely original in the first place.
