Sunday brought a challenge for crews battling wildfires in both Carolinas; gusty winds and dry weather made the task difficult. This led to evacuation orders in multiple areas. With critically low humidity and dry fuels, the National Weather Service has issued a warning of increased fire danger.

On Sunday, Governor Henry McMaster of South Carolina proclaimed a state of emergency in response to a continuous wildfire near Myrtle Beach in the Carolina Forest area. A lot of communities were evacuated, as said by Horry County Fire Rescue.

In North Carolina, the U.S. Forest Service is working to control a lot of wildfires burning in four different forests, according to the Forest Service. About 50 miles east of Charlotte, in the Uwharrie National Forest, a large fire has burned roughly 162 hectares. The Forest Service made an announcement that by Sunday afternoon, the wildfire was about one-third contained.
