Generally, customers don't like to wait. And that is why service businesses always take measures to make the waiting time worthwhile.
But I have seemed to notice that waiting doesn't matter much to customers as far as they can see that their order is being worked on.
Lesson: While a customer is waiting, let him or her see you actively working on their order.
