According to the report, on the morning of August 23, 2023, Tampa, Florida, police received a frantic 911 call from 18-year-old Natavia Sanders. During the call, she cried out for help because her mother was strangling her until she was unconscious. Police found Natavia lying motionless on the kitchen floor just 25 minutes later. She was rushed to the hospital but died two days later. Her mother, Rotesa Sylvius, was later charged with first-degree murder.
