Delivery Failed Today. Was I wrong?

A man contacted me through my Facebook page to deliver a certain dress to his wife at a given location. Gave me the wife's contact. I wanted to do the delivery myself. The deal was that I would go meet the wife, he transfers money to me and I handover the dress to the wife. I got to the wife's location, met the wife and tried to reach out to the man to transfer the money.

The wife told me she is in a hurry, that I should give her the dress and finish the business with the husband while she leaves with the dress. I refused to give the wife the dress and tried to contact the husband to transfer the money to me. The wife got angry, boarded a vehicle and left. I reached out to the husband and told him everything. And I left with my dress.

Did I have any fault in that failed delivery?

A customer that I don't have a prior relationship is demanding that I drop my product. I asked the husband of he would have done same. He failed to answer.
