Over here, it is extremely rare for persons to have credit card, it's so rare that most people don't even know something like exist. Over here even when employed does not guarantee you have a credit card.

Why do you need credit card? Just take short loan. You can do that on ATM. It is almost same.
It is perfectly normal to find difficulties getting a credit card without a source of income. The credit card issuing company has a duty to make sure that whatever credit card funds you use can be paid back. Without a job, how can you pay it back?
