The dependence of business on a technology would depend on the kind of the business and the scale of it. The amount of dependency varies. But for sure, in the current digital era, technology does play a significant role. However, it's not a basic requirement for businesses that are not dependent on technology as a core requirement.
There was a small vendor shop next to a college here in our neighborhood. He started with a small tea and home made snacks some ten years back. It was very small scale. He didn't even have a smartphone in the beginning. But now the shop is bigger, has few more stuffs like some basic stationery items added to the store. And he has even got a Xerox machine now. Now we see him having a smartphone and even using technology for the payment through QR code and digital wallets.
