So I was supposed to help a friend run recruitment for his business. We picked the right staff based on the interview. Everything was agreed and the staff had to see the equipment the organization had. The staff turned down the employment offer because the organization didn't have high end equipment. He said his level of professionalism is too high for him to work with average equipment.

Truth be told. The guy is a top pro. And he turned down the job offer when when the pay was okay. The reason being average equipment.

The professional rejected the offer because he believes that to perform at his level of excellence, he needs to work with high-quality equipment. He refused an acceptable salary because he prioritizes having the right tools that match his professionalism.

I know many people would see it as arrogance. But some professionals won't stoop so low even when the money is good. That can be very embarrassing to the organisation.

I can relate with that pro. He doesn't want to soil his brand with low quality equipments. If the result is not top class, he would be referred to as the producer and no one would know it is the fault of the equipment.

I actually judge a pro with the ability to improvise and work with average equipment. That staff is just too proud.
